In brief, the meeting was more constructive that the last one on the same subject although the majority of those present do not want safety cameras in the village.  However, the need to do something was widely supported. It was recognised that cameras/technology would provide cover 24/7 in the two areas where incidences has occurred.  Two important suggestions were that a Community Safety Officer could be appointed and safe houses/businesses identified (Agenda Item 52). These ideas should be explored further as a means of providing more protection.  It was reported that during a focus group discussion with 11-14 year-olds, the issue of better lighting around the village was brought up as was speeding and a lack of feeling of community and the need for things to do in their spare time.
