Highways and Rights of Way

The Parish Council regularly discusses problems with highways and rights of way, and passes these issues through to the relevant person at the County Council to deal with. If residents have any problems to report, they can do so either directly to the County Council, or via the Parish Council. The Highways Department have recently been carrying out work on Barrowell Lane to try and relieve the problems of water running in the road.

Publication Scheme

The Information Commissioner has produced a new model template for a publication scheme which all Parish Councils are required to adopt by the 31st December. St Briavels Parish Council have adopted the scheme, and it is available on our website or in hard copy form, please contact the clerk for further details. A lot of information about St Briavels Parish Council is available on our website – agendas and minutes of meetings, policies and procedures, lists of meeting dates, councillors contact details, as well as information about events in the village and its history.

Budget and Precept for 2009/10

The Parish Council agreed their budget and precept for 2009/10 – the increase in the precept has been kept as low as possible, while enabling us to carry on with our work in the parish. The precept has been set at £12985 – around £22 a year (or just over 40p a week) for the average household – the figure is less for band A, B and C properties, and is discounted for single person households and those on low incomes. We hope that we provide good value for money, caring for the churchyard, cemetery, tump and other grassed areas around the village, looking after bus shelters, gates and walls around the churchyard and cemetery, providing help and support to village organisations, and acting as a liaison with other authorities, such as the District and County Councils to ensure that issues in St Briavels are dealt with promptly, and that we get our fair share of their time and resources.

Ranger Guide Group Donation

Ranger Guide Donation
The Parish Council were pleased to find £250 from this year’s budget to make a donation to the Ranger Guide unit towards their start up costs. We wish them every success.
