Meeting Venue

Until further notice, all Parish Council full and committee meetings will be held at the Playing Fields Pavilion while work is carried out on the assembly rooms.

Annual Parish Meeting

The guest speaker for the Annual Parish Meeting has been confirmed as Eddie Coventry – the County Council’s Head of Emergency Planning. He will be talking to us about what local communities can do to help themselves in emergency situations – the County Council have learnt many valuable lessons from last summer’s flooding, and are now keen that individuals and local communities become more “resilient”. The Annual Parish Meeting will be on Wednesday 23rd April at the Playing Fields Pavilion. Refreshments will be available from 7.15, with the meeting to start at 7.30pm. Village organisations will report on their activities over the past year and the Parish Council Chairman will give a report.

Post Office Closures

Members of the Parish Council have met with our County Councillor and representatives from neighbouring parishes to discuss the lack of post office facilities in our villages, and to try to campaign for a mobile post office service to serve the area. Unfortunately the fact that our post office was closed voluntarily a couple of years ago means that this will be much more difficult to achieve, but we will try. When we send out our Annual report to all residents in May, we will be including a survey form to try and find out how much demand there is for post office services in the village, and how residents are managing at the moment.

Liaison with other Parishes

Members of the parish council have been very busy recently attending meetings around the area with other parishes to discuss common issues such as post office closures, traffic and welcome packs for new residents and also meetings with other bodies such as the police and county council.

Village Guide Leaflets

The Parish Council has published a leaflet which contains information about the history of the village and some of the most notable buildings. The leaflet will be available at various tourist sites around the area, and we hope will encourage visitors to spend some time walking around the centre of the village and enjoying the area. These have been published with help from the District Council’s Parish Plan Quick Wins grant. The final part of the grant project is to re-design the Parish Council website, and a contractor has been chosen for this. It is hoped to be up and running by the end of May.
