Lower Meend Roadworks

Problems with the works carried out were reported at the meeting, but we are assured that the contractors will be returning in the next couple of months to carry out further repair works.

 

News from St Briavels Council May Meeting

Adrian Cooper was elected to serve a further term as Chairman, with Dave Slater to continue as Vice Chairman.

New Clerk

Dave Kent has been appointed as the new Clerk to the Parish Council and started work at the May meeting.  His contact details are below.  Dave  lived in St Briavels from 1973-1977, playing cricket and Sunday football for St Briavels, and playing rugby on Saturdays for Bream. Dave worked in IT for 38 years, and was for the last 18 years of his career Information Services manager for Gloucestershire Police. From St Briavels he went to work in the South Pacific for ten years, and on his return to the UK he lived in Parkend for 20 years and is now resident in Newnham. He is on the committees of Newnham Cricket Club and Newnham Players, and is Honorary Secretary of Lydney Rugby Club. Dave writes a weekly column for the Citizen entitled ‘Forest View’, and a column for the Lydney Rugby Club programme, entitled ‘Playing Advantage’.

Annual Parish Meeting

Thanks to everyone who attended the Annual Parish Meeting on the 29th April. There were a large number of village organisations who either sent in or gave reports in person, and our guest speaker was Sara Hodge from the British Red Cross who outlined the organisations work and first aid training opportunities for community groups.
